Walkway demolition using jackhammers and concrete saws is rarely required. Because there is no poured concrete, there is no cure time, which means no schedule changes and no detouring walk-in traffic while an entrance sits offline

EntryLevel™ Landings correct door thresholds from about ½ inch up to 6 inches high. Standard sizes cover most common rises, and SafePath builds custom landings for entrances that need a specific height up to 6 inches.

Can EntryLevel™ Landings be used on balconies with drainage?

Yes. SafePath has built custom EntryLevel™ Landings for balcony doors, with drainage channels placed to line up with each weep hole in the door and window frames. At the Mary Helen Rogers Senior Community Center in San Francisco, SafePath worked with HKIT Architects and Cahill Construction on recycled rubber balcony landings made to look like grey granite. Those landings solved the threshold height problem without blocking drainage.

What is maneuvering clearance at a door?

Maneuvering clearance is the level floor area in front of and beside a door that a wheelchair user needs to approach it, open it, and pass through. The required size depends on which way the door swings and which direction a person approaches from. The space must be level, so a sloped walkway or raised threshold in front of a door usually means a landing is needed.

What types of locations in an airport or transportation hub need accessibility ramps?

Common locations include terminal entrances and passenger drop-off zones, parking areas and curbside crossings, boarding platforms and transit access points, interior door thresholds and flooring transitions, and temporary routes created during construction, renovation, or emergency detours.

Does an ADA ramp need a landing at the top and bottom?

Yes. The ADA requires a level landing at the top and bottom of every ramp run. Each landing must be at least 60 inches long and at least as wide as the ramp, and 60 by 60 inches wherever the ramp changes direction. An EntryLevel™ Landing can serve as the top landing at a raised door.

How much space does a modular landing take compared with concrete?

Much less. For a 1-inch threshold at a standard 36-inch door, a poured concrete landing needs about 113 square feet of new concrete to meet code. A SafePath Products® EntryLevel™ Landing for the same door needs only about 42 square feet. The difference grows with taller thresholds, which makes modular landings the practical choice at tight entrances.
